Asbestos Management Support and Advice
Independent advice to help clients understand and manage asbestos risks appropriately.
In addition to surveying, ASSET provides independent advice to help clients understand and manage asbestos risks appropriately.
What We Provide
- Aid in the preparation of Asbestos Management Plans
- Guidance following survey findings
- Advice on remediation options or risk management strategies
- Support for dutyholders unsure of their legal responsibilities
Why Independent Advice Matters
ASSET does not undertake asbestos removal works. This means:
- All advice is completely impartial - focused on what is appropriate, not on generating removal work
- We can assess multiple remediation options and recommend the best fit for your circumstances
- Our recommendations are proportionate to the actual risk presented
- Clients can trust that proposals are in their best interests
An Asbestos Management Plan is required by law for most non-domestic premises. It outlines:
- Location and condition of all asbestos-containing materials
- Risks they present during normal occupation and maintenance
- Controls in place to manage those risks
- Procedures for monitoring condition and informing staff / contractors
- Action plan for remediation or ongoing management
Remediation Options & Strategy
Once asbestos is identified, several management options may be appropriate:
- Manage In-Situ - If material is in good condition and unlikely to be disturbed it is recommended that the material is monitored for deterioration, and to undertake necessary remedial work if / when deterioration occurs
- Encapsulation - Seal or coat the material to prevent fibre release
- Enclosure - Build a barrier around the material
- Removal - Appropriate removal measures, if materials are in poor condition or need to be removed in order to facilitate any planned refurbishment works
The right approach depends on the material, its condition, how it's likely to be used, and your circumstances. We help identify the most proportionate, cost-effective option.
Ongoing Support
Managing asbestos is not a one-time task. We provide guidance on:
- Monitoring condition of materials over time
- Informing contractors and maintenance teams of asbestos risks
- Procedures for work near asbestos-containing materials
- Re-inspection and updates to the asbestos register
